The band Empty Mountains are Full of Wind and Rain

The band Empty Mountains are Full of Wind and Rain (Unidet States, Japan, Finland, Czech Republic)  was founded in September 2014 as a trio of Hearn Gadbois (percussion), Esko Mäkinen (double bass) and Michal Hrubý (clarinet, bass clarinet, tenor saxophone).

Later on they were joined by Seizan Keiji Osako (shakuhachi, soprano and alto saxophone) and Anna Romanovská (violin, koto). Two legends of Czech alternative music also performed with the band: Miroslav Posejpal (cello) and Vlastislav Matoušek (shakuhachi, percussion).

The band focuses on free improvisation on the borders between jazz and folklore music of all the countries the members of the band come from.  In June 2015 the band created the accompaniment for the Czech part of the project Global Water Dance 2015. The name of the band is taken from an old Korean Zen poem and it should reflect the sound of the band.
