Duo of violinist and singer Gabriella Vermelho (Czech Republic) and accordionist Jakub Jedlínský (Czech Republic) will perform with a repertoire specially prepared for the Festival Dobrska Brana. Its basis is the return to the Moravian roots of Gabriella Vermelho. The program consist of moravian, jewish and slovak folk music, as well as Gabriella’s original compositions based on the moravian melody.
Gabriela Vermelho graduated from University of Ostrava. She is skilful violinist, fabulous quinton player, outstanding singer and original composer. She is a musician whose activities branch out in large variety of directions. She is engaged in classical music as well as in jazz, alternative music, contemporary inter-genre style music and Moravian folk music. She composed music for ballet performances being staged in Plzeň, Liberec, Ústí nad Labem and in Prague.She is also anactress. You can see her perform in Husa na provázku Theater in Brno (herperformance in the stage musical play Balada pro banditu – A Ballad for aBandit – has guaranteed her The Alfréd Radok Award for the best New Artist), The stage of The National Theatre in Prague isn’t unknown for her either. She has also taken part in musical Excalibur and had a solo in Schnittke’s First Symphony.Currently, she plays with her chanson band GaRe, with quartet Gadrew Way, has solo performances and takes part in other orchestras and bands.Herinvention, enthusiasm, humour, creativity, vigour and virtuosity make her aunique personality, to which it would be difficult to find a match in thiscountry.
Jakub Jedlinský is a successful young accordionist.He graduated from the Pardubice Conservatory (Prof. A. Dvořák) and from the University of West Bohemia in Plzeň (J. Vlach and J. Vlachová ml.). He also attended the Master class at the Academy of Music in Esbjerg, Denmark (Doc. Jytte von Rüden). He has received numerous awards in the domestic and international competitions. He participated in international courses and seminars under the leadership of leading personalities in his field (B. Dowlasz, J. v. Rüden, N. Sevrjukov). He cooperates with Czech Radio and performs at international music festivals in the Czech Republic and abroad on regular basis. Jakub regularly cooperates with singer and songwriter Gabrielle Vermelho, Alfred Radok and Bardolino, who focuses on the original concept of ethnic music around the world. Since 2008 he has been teaching accordion play at the Pardubice Conservatory.
