German trumpet player and composer Jakob Bänsch from Pforzheim is new on the European jazz scene.

Already at the age of 19, he received awards including the first Federal Award at the Jugend Musiziert and the Young Lions Jazz Award. He is a member of the Elbphilharmonie Jazz Academy, the German Youth Jazz Orchestra, the WDR Young Composers Fellowship Program and the Gutenberg Jazz Collective.

He has already shared the stage with musicians such as Bob Mintzer, Melissa Aldana, Jim Snidero and Emil Mangelsdorff. He has collaborated with international greats such as Melissa Aldana and Theo Croker and presented his own music in the main hall of the Elbphilharmonie.

The specialty of his own music is a sound very close to classical music combined with the energy and virtuosity of Bebop and Modern Jazz.

Inspiration from classical – impressionist music from masters like Mahler or Ravel shines through as well as from jazz composers like Kenny Wheeler, Richie Beirach or Maria Schneider.

The dramaturgy, based on a series of acts, makes the concert program an incomparable experience.
